As a Southern France based half Turkish family, we have the privilege of living in and enjoying some of the most beautiful cities and towns on a daily basis. Nevertheless, we genuinely long for the cruising season (between April and November) and the times we shall spend aboard M/Y Katerina and cruise the Turkish coast.
2020 will be our 21st year and instead of feeling boredom or satiety, we are thinking how we can spend more time there. Why? What makes us choose the Turkish coast over and over for so many years? The short answer to this question could be described as the “Blue Voyage.”
A Blue Voyage is an epic journey that takes place along the secluded Turkish coast where one is surrounded by the turquoise sea, the sun, pine trees and the gentle breeze.
The southwestern Turkish coast boasts spectacularly beautiful large bays where one can cruise comfortably for days or weeks and within these bays one can find hundreds of smaller bays or secluded areas offering top comfort. This is the opposite of open water cruising so forget about large waves, swell and strong winds. There is no need to visit marinas or harbors unless one wants to so forget about making day trips to swim.
In Turkey, the standard way to anchor is to approach stern-to to the shore and tie two lines to nearby large rocks. This will turn the sea into your own swimming pool available 24 hours and being only one meter away from your dining table. You can swim the moment you wake up, before or after lunch or just let your kids swim in safety under your observation when you are enjoying a chilled rose
A Blue Voyage is one of the top family activities as it is safe, comfortable and beautiful not to mention full of joy. It creates life-long memories, if that were not the case we would not be doing it for the 21st year.
